Karatsu, known as the old Karatsu pottery clay, uses clay from Yamase. It is a beautiful piece with a bright biwa color and the plum blossom skin on the hill and the potter's wheel pattern that is unique to handicrafts. In addition , there is a traditional design ``meato'' (small dirt unevenness) on the surface of the pottery, which is a traditional design that occurs during the kiln firing process. Please enjoy it as a piece of scenery as it is a trace of handiwork that is rarely seen on mass-produced vessels.
Karatsu ware has a rough base, so sudden temperature changes can cause it to crack and break. Avoid using microwaves and dishwashers as they can also damage the dishes. Because they are handmade, the size, shape, and color may vary slightly.
