A distinctive feature of Kawakujira is the black rim around the mouth rim. The origin of ``Kawakujira'' is that the black edge of the mouth is likened to the skin of a whale (the back), and the white of the body of the vessel is likened to the body (belly) of a whale. One of the highlights is the black candy glaze flowing gently from the rim of the mouth to the neck and shoulders, reminiscent of Korean Karatsu. Additionally, this piece is accented with shell marks on the waist (remains from being fired horizontally in a kiln). The more you use a sake cup, the more its flavor will change. Enjoy the process of growing and changing. Holds approximately 270ml (about 1.5 cups).
