In Karatsu ware, there is a type of glaze that is intentionally cracking, called Jakatsu glaze. When a feldspar glaze is applied to the surface of the black glaze and fired, the feldspathic glaze shrinks more than the black glaze, and the black glaze is visible through the shrinkage gap, creating a complex and unique scenery. It came to be called Jakatsu glaze because the cracking look like the skin of a snake or scorpion. In addition, this work has line carvings and plum blossom skin, making it a work of art with many highlights. It is perfect as a teacup, as well as a rock glass for shochu or for dipping into hot water.
