The clay used is from Yamase in Karatsu, known as the pottery clay of old Karatsu. The most attractive feature of this piece is the Yohen(kiln changes). It is a product of the accidental action of fire that can be enjoyed no matter how many times you look at it. It is a beautiful masterpiece filled with highlights, such as the carved marks and Tokin on the foot ring that are unique to Karatsu clay, the fine Kan-nyu(Crackle), and the potter's wheel marks that can only be found in hand-made items. The more you use a sake vessel, the more it will change and become more flavorful.
