Karatsu ware｜Naoki Kojima｜Ekaratsu Katakuchi, set of two Karatsukawakujira sake cups

This set includes a painted karatsu kataguchi and two karatsu skin whale gulp cups. The set is also priced at a reasonable price. Karatsu ware is said to be the first painted ware in Japan. Mainly, plants, flowers, and birds are painted. The distinctive feature of kawa-zhira is the black border around the mouth. The origin of the name “kawa-jira” is derived from the comparison of the black rim to the skin (back) of a whale and the white body of the vessel to the whale's body (belly).
