With the theme of "The World of White Porcelain," we will introduce white porcelain artists who are perfect for the hot summer. This summer, we will be introducing the appeal of white porcelain, blue-white porcelain, and celadon porcelain, with their transparently white skin and cool pale blue glaze, together with four artists.
The first one is Mr. Akio Momota (an artist living in Arita Town, Saga Prefecture), a popular author who has been featured in Kateigaho. The elegant form of the white porcelain has a light celadon glaze applied to it, and the abstract design drawn with glaze on the pure white base is attractive. All of the works have an elegant and dignified appearance, but they also give a strange feeling of softness and warmth. Most of the pieces are one-of-a-kind pieces made on a potter's wheel.
We would like to introduce some of Mr. Momota's creative and stylish works.

Sakeware|Rust glaze single spouted form
Blue and white porcelain with a beautiful pale blue glaze. It has a gentle, rounded shape that is moist and comfortable to the touch. In addition, the rust glaze on the edge of the mouth is an accent. It's a size that's easy for women to hold, has just the right amount of weight and stability, and can hold just under 1 cup of alcohol. The sharpness of the spout is also perfect.
This is also a beautiful blue-white porcelain with a pale blue glaze. The edge of the mouth has a soft square shape and is accented with rust glaze. The mouth is thin and smooth, and I think the rounded shape allows you to fully enjoy the aroma of sake. Please enjoy it as a set with single spouted form.

Quick note: What are white porcelain and celadon?
White porcelain, blue white porcelain, and celadon porcelain are all made from the same raw material: china clay made from crushed white stones. When a glaze that becomes transparent when fired is applied to an unglazed pottery, it becomes "white porcelain" and the "white" base color stands out. When the glaze contains a small amount of iron and is fired in low oxygen conditions (reduction firing), the transparent glaze turns blue, resulting in "blue-white porcelain" and "celadon porcelain." The "blueness" changes depending on the amount of iron, degree of reduction, thickness of glaze, etc. In order to express the “white” and “blue” you want, you will need a highly skilled technique.
